Information from 2001 survey of U.S. land grant universities (total over years)

Numbers in table body are total students (agronomy / horticulture only); 44 universities have been summarized below; out of 73 land grant universities total. Responses were received from 61 departments offering plant breeding degrees representing 47 land grant universities in 47 states and territories. Four land grant universities did not respond the survey, resulting in a 92% return rate.

*Indicates the 7 land grant universities training an average of 6 or more plant breeding students per year in 1995-2000.
