Curriculum vitae

Dr. Joshi is working on nematode resistance in cucumber using a system developed at NC State. The method involves the d0.3 promoter that recognizes the formation of giant cells when nematodes begin to feed on plant roots. The promoter works with genes that shut down the giant cell to prevent nematodes from developing properly, thus providing nematode resistance to the plant.
