Career Objective:
Through a masters degree in Horticultural Science from North Carolina State University, a career in the field of food crops research and development will be pursued.  This field of study will provide the opportunity to solve ongoing problems in the production of better yielding and more nutritious crops with less space, time and money.  Interest in conducting research will also be pursued.

Experience for career field:

  • Research assistantship in cucurbit/watermelon breeding
  • Summer experience in roguing and seed breeding
  •  Courses in biology, chemistry, genetics, plant breeding, crop science and soils
  •  Strong mathematical abilities

Employment History:

  •  Hort. Sci., North Carolina State University-Raleigh:  1999 - present.  Graduate research assistant.
  • GP Services:  1996 to 1999.  Self-employed/Carpet cleaning company.  Responsible for its organization, management and employee training.
  •  Seedex Inc.:  1997, 1998.  Responsible for assisting in the breeding for 1997-1998, 1998-1999 sugarbeet hybrid crosses.  (Summer internship)
  •  Evergreen Veterinary Services:  1993 to 1996.  Responsible for the care of approximately 50 animals of various breeds and sizes receiving medical treatment and/or services.  (Weekend, summer and college break employment)
  •  Human Technology:  1993 and 1994.  Responsible for assisting in the organization and management of personal computer training programs.  (Summer employment)
  •  Bramley Construction Company:  1993 and 1994.  Responsible for assisting in the reconstruction of private residences including general maintenance and landscaping.  (Summer and weekend employment)
