Handout - Powerpoint for the Plotter Printer
Making the Poster
- Choose a 'blank' presentation and one blank slide only.
- Under the 'File' menu, go to 'Page Setup' and set custom size to
36" height and 48" width.
- Design your poster using the same tools that you use for regular
slides.
- Then put on the file server, or save to a CD-R, Zip or other standard
disk.
- When you are ready to print, go to the CAD lab.
CAD Lab
- Open Powerpoint and your poster on the Macintosh in the lab. It
is a good idea to copy your poster to the desktop and work from there.
It is slower and less reliable if you work on the file stored on the
file server.
Plotter Printer
- Under 'File'
- Select 'Page Setup', make sure it is set for 'Landscape' mode; check
that Custom Size is correct.
- Under 'Options'
- Select 'HP Design Jet 755 CM Printer'
- Under 'Paper', select 'ANSI E'
- Select 'Landscape' orientation
- Select 'Print'
- Next to 'General', click on the drop-down box arrow and choose
'Microsoft Powerpoint'
- Make sure 'black and white' is NOT checked
- Check 'scale to fit paper'
- Let the poster print
- Your poster will take 10 to 60 minutes to print and another
5 minutes to allow the ink to dry. It cuts the edge automatically
after the poster has dried.
- Sign the print log, indicating person to charge and number of
posters printed.
- When done, remove your file from the hard drive and file server.
- Turn off the computer.
