Burpee Fordhook Tampala - Breeder and vendor: W. Atlee Burpee
Co., Philadelphia. Parentage: selection from Burpee Tampala for
darker green leaf color. Characteristics: dark-green leaves, erect
bushy plants, used as raw or cooked greens. Withstands heat better
than spinach. Similar: Burpee Tampala. Adaptation: all parts of
the United States. Burpee Catalog 1946.
Burpee Tampala - Breeder and vendor: W. Atlee Burpee Co., Philadelphia.
Parentage: cultivar of Amaranthus gangeticus brought from China
by L. Lutz. Characteristics: light-green leaves borne on bushy
plants that are slow bolting and withstand hot weather much better
than spinach. Similar: Fordhook Tampala. Adaptation: wide. Burpee
Catalog 1944.
