Watermelon
Cultivars (A-B)
To cultivars (Ca-Cz)
Hundreds of watermelon cultivars have been developed for use
in the U.S. over the last few centuries by public and private
plant breeders.
Below, the following information (when available) is given for
each cultivar: fruit photograph, cultivar name, experimental designation,
breeder, vendor, parentage, characteristics, resistances, similar
cultivars, adaptation, and year of release.
We know of 300 watermelon varieties, and are working to collect
seeds and pedigree information on them. Additional tetraploids
are being produced in the greenhouse for testing in the field.
